Barcelona 1–2 Real Madrid | La Liga | 25 October 2026
Real Madrid claimed a statement victory over Barcelona on Sunday, winning 2–1 at Camp Nou as Kylian Mbappé struck twice to end their rivals' perfect start to the La Liga season.
The result was a major boost for Madrid and a painful setback for Barcelona, who had won their first nine league matches and were seeking a historic tenth consecutive victory.
Mbappé strikes first
Madrid took the lead in the 41st minute when a cross from Yan Diomande was deflected off Barcelona defender Gerard Martín and into Mbappé's path. The French forward made the most of the fortunate opening to put the visitors ahead.
Barcelona had opportunities of their own, but missed chances prevented the hosts from taking control of the contest before the break.
Raphinha brings Barcelona level
Barcelona responded in the 61st minute. Pedri supplied the pass, and Raphinha finished to make it 1–1, restoring belief among the home supporters.
The equaliser changed the atmosphere inside Camp Nou, with Barcelona pushing for a winner. However, Madrid remained dangerous on the counterattack and continued to threaten whenever space opened up.
Mbappé delivers the decisive blow
With the match approaching its conclusion, Madrid produced the decisive counterattack. Jude Bellingham helped initiate the move, Eduardo Camavinga drove forward and squared the ball for Mbappé, who finished in the 87th minute.
The goal sealed a famous away victory and gave Madrid all three points.
What the result means
The win ended Barcelona's nine-match winning start in the league and cut the gap between the rivals to three points, according to post-match reports.
Madrid will take confidence from their ability to withstand Barcelona's pressure and strike decisively when opportunities appeared. Barcelona, meanwhile, must review their missed chances and defensive lapses after a defeat that could influence the title race.
Final score: Barcelona 1–2 Real Madrid.
Instacool verdict: Madrid showed that composure and clinical finishing can silence even the most intimidating stadium. Barcelona had their moments, but Mbappé made the difference when it mattered most.
