Nigerian Afrobeats singer Mayorkun has returned with a new single titled “Home Training”, released on October 30, 2026, as the lead single from his forthcoming extended play, Long Live, The Mayor!

The release marks another step in the singer's musical journey as he celebrates ten years in the music industry, a milestone that takes him back to his 2016 breakthrough hit, “Eleko”.

Produced by Fresh VDM, “Home Training” arrives with an upbeat sound and a playful approach to the subject of love, attraction and spontaneity.

THE STORY BEHIND “HOME TRAINING”

The title draws on the familiar Nigerian expression “home training”, commonly used to describe manners, discipline and values learned while growing up.

Mayorkun gives the expression a romantic twist, exploring what happens when attraction and love make someone behave differently from their usual self.

The singer explained that the song is about the kind of relationship that brings out another side of a person. Sometimes, he suggests, love means knowing when to behave and when to let go of the usual rules.

The playful concept gives the record an accessible theme that listeners can easily relate to.

A NEW EP IS ON THE WAY

“Home Training” serves as the opening track of Mayorkun's upcoming five-track EP, Long Live, The Mayor!, scheduled for release on November 30, 2026.

The project is expected to include his earlier single “Kaluba”, which appears as the closing track on the currently listed track sequence.

The forthcoming EP follows his 2023 project, Love... For Free, and signals another chapter in his career.

TEN YEARS OF MAYORKUN

Mayorkun first gained widespread recognition in 2016 following the release of “Eleko”, which introduced him to a much larger audience.

Since then, he has built a catalogue of popular Afrobeats records, including “Mama”, “Che Che”, “Geng” and “Holy Father” with Victony.

His ability to combine catchy melodies, playful songwriting and contemporary Afrobeats production has helped establish his place in the Nigerian music industry.

The release of “Home Training” during his tenth anniversary year gives the new single additional significance.

INSTACOOL VERDICT

Mayorkun returns with a familiar strength: catchy songwriting, an accessible theme and an energetic Afrobeats sound.

“Home Training” also gives fans an early taste of what to expect from Long Live, The Mayor!.

With the EP scheduled for November 30, listeners now have another reason to follow his next musical move.
